Bergerac, the city at 4 km

The city, with its approximately 27,000 inhabitants, lies on the banks of the Dordogne River. In the 18th and 19th centuries, Bergerac was an important French inland port. It is a lovely city to stroll through the car-free medieval streets and enjoy the beautiful half-timbered houses. Don’t forget to visit the Maison des Vins de Bergerac winery, located in the city centre above the ‘Office du Toerism – Quai Cyrano’. From here you will have a nice view of Bergerac’s port and old bridge. At the winery, you can learn about the 13 AOC wines that the area, of more than 12,000 hectares, has been producing for more than 2,000 years. There is an exhibition on display, a tasting room and a wine cellar.
