
Lembras
Lembras is a small green, hilly and wooded rural village at the gates of Bergerac in the heart of the Périgord Pourpre.
Lembras is located in the Pécharmant where powerful, elegant and generous wines are made.
Our Chambres d’Hôtes is on the outskirts of the commune, between the centres of Lembras and Bergerac. It’s about 4 kilometers to the center of Bergerac.
In Bergerac you will find a hospital, several supermarkets, nice shops and various restaurants. The airport is located south of Bergerac, about a 20-minute drive from our house.
Bergerac
The city Bergerac, with its approximately 27,000 inhabitants, is located on the northern bank of the Dordogne river in the western part of the Dordogne department. It is one of the largest, most important towns in the region.
In the 18th and 19th centuries, Bergerac was an important French inland port. It is a wonderful city to walk through the car-free medieval streets and enjoy the beautiful half-timbered houses.
Don’t miss a visit to the ‘Maison des Vins de Bergerac‘ winery, located in the center of the city above the ‘Office du Tourism – Quai Cyrano‘. From here you have a beautiful view of the Dordogne river, the harbor and old bridge of Bergerac.
At the winery you can get acquainted with the 13 AOC wines that the area, covering more than 12,000 hectares, has been producing for more than 2,000 years.
There is also an exhibition to see, a tasting room and a wine cellar.
In Bergerac there are also large and small shops, many restaurants, terraces and there is the Tobacco Museum in the city that you can visit. Of course, you can’t leave without a photo of Cyrano’s statue.

Discover the Wine region
The vineyards around Bergerac are located on both banks of the Dordogne.
The area of more than 12,000 hectares produces thirteen A.O.C. wines.
Some famous wines from this region are; the red Pécharmant wine, the sweet, white liqueur wine Monbazillac and the white Montravel and Montaigne wine.
The area also produces the rarer Rosette and Saussignac.
The Bergerac wine region borders that of Bordeaux and is only a few kilometers from the Saint-Emilion vineyards.
The winery ‘Maison des Vins de Bergerac’ offers four different routes to discover the wine region. This way you can get to know the delicious wines produced in this region.
You can visit 93 different winegrowers who will welcome you with open arms and where you can taste and buy delicious wines.If you want, the first one on your route that you can visit is a 4-minute walk from our house.
